NECTO Studio offers both free and commercial licensing models to support hobbyists, educators, and businesses alike. This page explains how to choose and activate the license that fits your needs.

π Free License (Non-Commercial Use)
NECTO Studio is completely free for non-commercial applications.
You get full access to all features β no time limits, no feature locks, no watermarking, no nonsense.

- Personal projects
- Academic work
- Open-source development
- Prototyping and learning
No activation key or manual registration required.
πΌ Subscription License (Commercial Use)
For profit-generating or commercial use, a Pay-Per-Use subscription is required.
This license supports ongoing NECTO development and allows you to influence the IDE roadmap.

π§© Activating Your License
Upon first launch, NECTO Studio will prompt you with a license selection dialog:
For Free Use:
- When asked "Choose your license type", select Free.
- NECTO will activate immediately β no internet required after this point.
For Subscription Use:
- Choose Subscription during the same prompt.
- Log in with your MIKROE Passport account.
- NECTO will automatically validate your license via the internet.
β Verifying License Status
You can check your active license type and validity at any time:
- Look in the top-left corner of the NECTO Studio window.
For commercial users:
- NECTO will periodically revalidate your subscription online.
π Log In
NECTO Studio uses MIKROE Passport for authentication β a unified login system that grants access to all MIKROE services with a single set of credentials.
- When prompted, log in using your MIKROE Passport account.
- This step is required for activating licenses, downloading packages, and accessing cloud-linked features.
- Donβt have an account? You can create one directly from the login window.
