Updating NECTO Studio

Keeping NECTO Studio up to date ensures that you benefit from the latest features, security patches, compiler updates, and Click board™ support packages. The update process is simple and designed to minimize disruption to your workflow.

🔄 1. In-IDE Updates

NECTO Studio includes a built-in update mechanism to streamline the process.

How to Check for Updates:

  1. Open NECTO Studio.
  2. Navigate to Help → Check for Updates.
  3. If updates are available, you will be notified and prompted to proceed.
  4. Follow the instructions to download and install the updates.

Tip: NECTO will periodically check for updates in the background, but manual checks ensure you're always up to date.

📦 2. Updating Packages & Compilers

NECTO Studio uses a modular package system, meaning that compilers, toolchains, Click board libraries, and SDKs can be updated independently.

To update packages:

  1. Open NECTO Studio.
  2. Go to Tools → Package Manager.
  3. Browse the installed packages and click Update if a newer version is available.
  4. Restart the IDE if prompted.

This approach allows:

You can also manually update NECTO Studio by downloading the latest installer from the official website:

  • Visit the NECTO Studio page.
  • Download the newest installer for your OS.

  • The installer will upgrade your existing installation while preserving your settings and configurations.

This method is helpful if:

  • You're reinstalling NECTO Studio on a new machine
